Port Chester Drivers: Headed to Greenwich? Patience Will Be a Virtue

Whether you’re motoring on the Connecticut Turnpike or the Merritt Parkway in Greenwich Thursday, you’re bound to hit a few delays. The Connecticut Department of Transportation just announced road work on both highways that will require lane closures until 3 p.m. Nov. 13. On the Merritt in southbound lanes between Exits 28 and 27 the right lane will be closed until 3 p.m. On the turnpike there is road work northbound between Exits 4 and 5 , closing the right lane until 3 p.m. Have a news tip? Geroma M. Davide, 91, Former Resident Of Port Chester

Geroma M. “Gerry” Davide, of Manheim, and formerly of Port Chester, N.Y., died Sunday, Nov. 9. She was 91. Davide was born in Port Chester, N.Y., to Antonio and Domenica Sena Gioffre. Retired in 1993, she worked as a secretary at the former United Hospital, Port Chester, N.Y. Previously, she worked at Homelite, a division of Textron, in Port Chester, N.Y., as an executive secretary for 20 years.

Rye Y’s Togetherhood Committee Collects Seasonal Clothing For Coat Drive

The Rye YMCA’s Togetherhood Committee is currently collecting new and gently used fall/winter clothing for babies, children and teens up to age 17. The clothing, which may be dropped off in the Rye Y’s lobby through Wednesday, Nov. 12, will be delivered to The Sharing Shelf, a Port Chester based program of Family Services of Westchester. On Saturday, Nov. 22, Togetherhood volunteers will spend the morning at The Sharing Shelf sorting, organizing and packaging clothing that will be distributed free of charge to local families in need.
